Dr. Michalis Antoniou is a research scientist at KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus since July 2019.

Dr. Antoniou received a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Electronics, University of Manchester 2012, with a thesis on localisation of wireless sensor nodes in confined industrial processes. Dr. Antoniou holds an MSc in Communication Engineering, University of Manchester 2006 and BEng (First-Class Honours) in Communication and Electronic Engineering from Manchester Metropolitan University 2005.

Dr Antoniou worked as teaching assistant on digital, analog and embedded electronics at the University of Manchester throughout the duration of his PhD. In the industry, Dr Antoniou worked as test development engineer at Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) from 2013 to 2015. In this role, he developed time and cost-efficient test solutions for radio electronics of newly designed semiconductors. From 2015 to 2017, Dr Antoniou worked at the Innovation and Advanced Technologies department of Qualcomm where he received an award for outstanding contribution to the success of the company. In this role, he worked on advanced radio electronics, on localisation algorithms and on energy harvesting projects. Dr Antoniou worked at the Electronics, Communication and Networks division of Cyprus Research and Innovation Center (CyRIC) from 2017 to 2019. In this role, he contributed to writing research proposals for both Cypriot and European calls and worked on awarded projects on wireless and embedded electronics and product development.
